SALEM, OR: Former NBA stars Brian Grant and Cherokee Parks complemented an exciting day of high intensity basketball, Saturday at The Hoop in Salem, Oregon. With the chance to play in Orlando getting closer and closer, eight teams stepped up their games to advance to semifinal play on Sunday.
Tree of Hope Pacific Red, Tree of Hope Pacific White, the Washington Evolution, and Nike Fast Elite will play for the girls championship.
Seattle Rotary, Washington Supreme, Alaska Tru Game, and Nike Northwest will fight for the crown in the boys bracket.
Former NBA veterans Brian Grant and Cherokee Parks led a Life Skills session in conjunction with the Positive Coaching Alliance. Players, coaches, and parents were reminded that the Jr. NBA core values, mindful social media behavior, a positive attitude, and taking responsibility shape life more than basketball.
The final two teams left standing, when play ends tomorrow, will represent the Northwest region at the Jr. NBA World Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, August 7-12.
